Congrats Elaine, Fraser-Pryce & Williams

Words can scarcely express our pride as a nation as we witnessed the awe inspiring performance of our women in the 100m final at the Rio 2016 Games. I congratulate wholeheartedly our newest Olympic Champion, Elaine Thompson, our perennial medal winner, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and our rising star Christania Williams on their extraordinary achievements.
Thompson’s dominance of the race was a superb display of courage and deliberation. Fraser-Pryce’s unrelenting spirit shone through as she solidified her legacy as a sprinting icon while defying the odds and competing through injury and pain to take home a wonderful Bronze medal.
Thompson’s Gold medal performance and William’s Personal Best finish in their first Olympic finals are clear indications that our legacy in the sprints continues.
To all our amazing ambassadors on this our largest Olympic team, I say, continue to rise to the occasion. Your participation in these Games elicits levels of unparalleled joy among all Jamaicans at home and abroad. You inspire patriotism and pride in every Jamaican heart.
Sincerest gratitude on behalf of all Jamaicans. A grateful nation salutes our Olympic team!
