MP ROBINSON ENGAGES CHURCHES, PMI IN SEEKING SOLUTIONS TO CRIME IN SWALLOWFIELD

Kingston, Jamaica, June 13, 2017: Member of Parliament for South East St Andrew, Julian Robinson engaged members of the Peace Management Initiative (PMI), church leaders, the police and residents in a walk-through of the Swallowfield community, today, to seek an end to the violence that has affected the area in recent weeks.

The PMI offered counseling and therapeutic treatment sessions to those affected by the violence.

Church leaders from the community, who joined in the walk, counselled and prayed for residents, many of whom expressed fear for their lives in the face of sporadic gunfire that has been plaguing the community recently.

Over the past week, the community has affected by two drive-by shootings that have left two young men dead and a child injured.

Robinson said the turn of events in the community is beyond troubling, but he hopes that the engagement will dispel fears and encourage anyone who may have any information to step forward and tell the police what they know.
