28 Jul NEC RATIFIES SPECIAL SELECTION CONFERENCE FOR SW ST ANDREW
Kingston, Jamaica, July 22, 2017: The National Executive Council (NEC) of the People’s National Party, the highest decision making body outside of the Party’s Annual Conference, today, ratified the resolution of the Executive Committee on South Western St. Andrew, to proceed with the recommended selection conference to elect a candidate for the upcoming bi-election to replace former party leader and the incumbent member of parliament, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller.
With the unanimous vote supporting the resolution, on July 30, a special selection conference will be held to determine the standard-bearer for the PNP in that constituency between Angela Brown-Burke and Audrey Smith-Facey.
In a brief statement supporting the resolution, Party President Peter Phillips urged the NEC to stand for what is right for the party and the country and support the resolution as it gives honour to all involved and offers the best hope for democracy.
