OPENING OF CONDOLENCE BOOK ON DEATH OF MR. DONALD HORNE (FORMER COUNCILLOR DEPUTY MAYOR)

Kingston, Jamaica, August 10, 2017: The People’s National Party in celebrating the life and contribution of the late Mr Donald Horne has opened a condolence book at the PNP Headquarters for signing from August 10, 2017 to August 19, 2017.
Mr Horne served the Junction Division as Councillor for 25 years from 1974 to 2003, and as Deputy Mayor from 1998 to 2003. He was born in Buff Bay ,Portland, on August 27, 1918.In 1959, he arrived in St Elizabeth as a political organizer for Norman Manley and the PNP. He committed most of his energies in the southern section of St Elizabeth.
Horne was also a trade unionist for Alpart workers during the construction and early years of that alumina refinery, as well as a local leader of the adult literacy JAMAL programme.
He lobbied for the construction of the Junction market for well over fifteen (15) years. On his 95th birthday, August 27 2013, the market was renamed in his honour.
