08 Jun ON DUTY: Paulwell joins CPA UK Election Assessment Mission in United Kingdom
Following on the invitation of the CPA UK Election Assessment Mission to Jamaica’s Parliament, to observer the June 8, 2017 General Elections of the United Kingdom. Jamaica’s sole Observer of the mission and leader of Opposition Business in the Jamaican Parliament, Mr. Phillip Paulwell is seen pictured above, with other colleagues of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Observers.
The mission Observers are required to be physically fit and will be expected to work long hours, especially on Election Day and must be willing to participate in the entire programme, which will include physically demanding schedules. They will be deployed after two days of intensive training programme for all participants and are subject to a signed code of conduct.
Mr. Paulwell has been appointed the lead observer working in the constituency of East Devon in South West England with 72,406 electorates (December 2010). Major settlements include Exmouth, Ottery St Mary, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth.
CPA UK is a signatory to the Declaration of Principles of International Election Observation and Code of Conduct for International Election Observers, signed at the UN in 2005.
