07 Sep PHILLIPS SADDENED BY DEVASTATION IN EASTERN CARIBBEAN
Kingston, Jamaica, September 6, 2017: Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips has expressed sympathy and support for the people in the region who have suffered damage from Hurricane Irma.
Dr. Phillips said he is saddened by news of deaths due to the passage of the hurricane, as well as the displacement of families and the general devastation in the Eastern Caribbean. The images of unimaginable destruction to infrastructure and personal properties, especially in Barbuda, Anguilla and St Marten, are a sobering reality and a wake call to climate change.
As the monster storm barrels westward, the Opposition Leader cautions all in its path to spare no effort in ensuring safety and the protection of life and properties.
He said in spite of the immensity of the destruction, he hopes that order can be restored as quickly as possible.
