22 Nov PNP Announces Successful Weekend ‘Link Up With the People’
The People’s National Party is describing its recently convened series of community meetings across the country as an enormous success. The Party engaged and listened to Jamaicans from all walks of life about local issues affecting them during what it called a “Weekend Blitz”, part of the Party’s ‘Link Up With the People’.
During the “weekend blitz,” PNP leadership teams traversed the length and breadth of Jamaica with a series of interactive activities. The PNP President, Portia Simpson Miller on Saturday led her team from Braes River, St Elizabeth and the Party’s Spokesperson on Finance, Dr. Peter Phillips led his team from Dalvey in St. Thomas, both converging in Caanan Heights, May Pen, Clarendon, for a successful rally.
On Sunday, the Link Up teams commencing in Cornwall Mountain, Westmoreland and St. Margaret’s Bay in Portland, continued to meet and greet the people, delayed in many instances by sheer crowd responses before converging in Steer Town, St. Ann at 10:00 pm, for another successful event.
According to the PNP, its local government candidates through its continued interaction with the people are giving real life the Party’s theme, ‘With the People! For the People!’. The Party says that Link Up activities include 700 community meetings, 1000 corner reasonings and over 2000 walks.
The programme will culminate over the coming weekend of Friday 25 and Saturday November 26, 2016, with 228 election day volunteers’ meetings for the purpose of finalizing election day preparations.
