30 Sep PNP CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION OF BUSHING WORK IN SE ST. MARY
The Peoples National Party is calling on the Offices of the Contractor General (OCG) and the Political Ombudsman to immediately launch an investigation into the distribution of bushing contracts in South East St. Mary, particularly in the Bellfield Division.
The Party says bushing work has been taking place since this morning, in Bellfield, which is represented by a PNP Councillor.
“I noticed bushing work taking place across my division and when I enquired of the St. Mary Municipal Corporation and the National Works Agency parish manager neither knew of the work, “Councillor Leevon Freeman of the Bellefield Division said.
“I am therefore seeking an explanation in regard to the source of the work that is being carried out by Jamaica Labour Party activists.”
The Party is calling for an urgent and thorough investigation of this work as it appears to be a vote-buying exercise ahead of the pending by-election.
The Party says it is watching very keenly JLP activities in the constituency, as consistent with recent behaviour it is not surprised that the JLP will use taxpayers money to attempt the bribing of voters.
