23 Oct PNP Regional Executive Council Meetings to focus on Local Government Election Preparations
Expecting Local Government Elections in November of this year, the six scheduled Regional Executive Council meetings to be held tomorrow, Sunday 23rd October, will focus on the Party preparations for these elections. High on the agenda, will be the continuing outreach and voter engagement programmes at the community level and the promotion of the Party’s message, ‘With the People, For the People’
Party President Portia Simpson Miller has charged candidates to give life and meaning to the Party’s local government theme, stating,“This is a qualitative extension of People Power. It goes deeper and wider, meaning that not only are we advocating power to the people which is essentially what people power is about, but we are committing ourselves to be with the people.” She further said, “This obliges us to understand the people, to listen to the people even when we do not agree, learn from the people and to give leadership to the people.”
The RECs to be held in Brown’s Town, St. Ann; Port Morant, St. Thomas; Kingston; Twickenham Park, St Catherine; Brompton, St. Elizabeth and Anchovy, St. James, will also elect vice chairs, secretaries and treasurers of their respective regions.
