18 Aug THE PNP MOURNS Dr. WINSTON GREEN
Kingston, Jamaica, August 14, 2017: People’s National Party President Dr Peter Phillips is deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden and untimely death of Member of Parliament Dr. Winston Green.
Dr. Green died last night after falling ill. He died at the Andrews Memorial Hospital.
“It is with a great deal of shock and sadness that I learnt of the sudden death of Dr. Green. Dr. Green committed his life professionally and politically to serving the Jamaican people. He was a dedicated servant of the people and a man faithful to his commitment to his family, his profession, his constituents and his party,” Dr. Phillips said.
Originally from Nannyville, St Andrew, Dr. Green was trained in dentistry in Cuba in the 1980s. His passion for community development and working with Jamaicans to maximize their potential became the driving force that propelled his entry into politics.
Over the past weekend, Dr. Green spent long hours in his constituency hosting a back-to-school dental clinic, providing dental reports for students in St. Mary at no cost. This was one of Dr. Green’s constituency initiatives that have been ongoing for a number of years.
As a Member of Parliament, he has served in South-east St. Mary and was a member of the Public Administration and Appropriation Committee (PAAC).
“Jamaica has lost a great son. Our heartfelt condolences to his children Sean, Ashley, Wade and Leah, his family, friends and colleagues. He will be truly missed, “Dr. Phillips said.
