09 Oct “WE ARE READY FOR BY-ELECTIONS,” says PNP GENERAL SECRETARY ROBINSON
KINGSTON, JAMAICA, October 1, 2017: The People’s National Party (PNP) says it welcomes the announcement by Prime Minister Andrew Holness of the date for the holding of by-elections in three constituencies which have been without parliamentary representation.
The Party says at long last the people of South West St Andrew, South St Andrew and South East St Mary will soon regain the benefit of parliamentary representation which was interrupted due to the retirement of Former Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson-Miller, Dr. Omar Davies, and the untimely death of Dr. Winston Green.
South East St Andrew Member of Parliament and General Secretary of the PNP, Mr. Julian Robinson says the Party has been in a state of readiness for some time and had been pressing the government to announce the date for the election to give the people access to representation. He says the successful conclusion of the Party’s 79th annual conference two weeks ago confirms the high level of enthusiasm which now exist at the base of the party.
Now that the by-elections have been announced, the Party will fine-tune its preparation in time for the polls.
