MP Hylton Calls for Full Investigation in Video Cyber Incident
Kingston, Jamaica: February 9, 2025. Member of Parliament Anthony Hylton is today describing the video- taping and posting of a constituent, popularly known in social media circles as Rosalee Hamilton, as a cyber -crime incident requiring the fullest investigation. The incident arose from a police operation which occurred at Ms. Hamilton’s home early yesterday morning and resulted in the video-taping of Ms. Hamilton in a state of undress by someone suspected to be a member of the police party carrying out the operation. The video appeared on social media shortly after the operation ended and went viral, causing great embarrassment and severe mental distress to Miss Hamilton.
Reacting to the incident, Mr Hylton said: “It is shocking that anyone should be subjected to this degrading treatment and abuse of their human rights and if this was done by the police, as is alleged, would represent a new low in policing and should not be tolerated by the leadership of the police or the society at large. Therefore, I not only condemn this deplorable act but I am calling for a full and transparent investigation of this incident to be followed by swift action to deter any such action being normalised as an appropriate policing method. This is without prejudice to any action which Ms. Hamilton may take to seek appropriate remedy for this dastardly and illegal conduct.”
The Member has pledged to give his support to the victim of this illegal conduct to ensure her well -being and restored mental health during this period of great trauma and distress.
