15 Aug Opposition Leader Congrats Elaine & Shelly
Kingston, August 13. 2016: Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller has extended congratulations to the new female 100 metres Olympic champion Elaine Thompson and defending champion Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, who won the bronze medal. “Elaine Thompson has made Jamaica proud fulfilling the promise which she has been displaying for some time now. She has proven that the depth of sprinting talent in Jamaica is truly amazing.” Mrs. Simpson Miller said.
Meanwhile Mrs. Simpson Miller had high praise for former two times Olympic Champion and World Champion over the distance, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce. “Despite suffering injury this season, Shelly-Ann proved that she indeed has the heart of champion and has produced a well earned bronze medal. She continues to have a special place in the hearts of all Jamaicans,” Mrs. Simpson Miller said in a statement.
The Opposition Leader had encouraging words for Christania Williams, who also made the 100 metres finals. “All Jamaica’s athletes in Rio de Janeiro continue to represent our country well and I commend all who made it into the finals of their events,” Mrs. Simpson Miller said.
